BYD has unveiled its 2025 Seal EV electric sedan, which bears a resemblance to the Tesla Model 3. Notably, the new BYD Seal EV is priced below $25,000, nearly $10,000 cheaper than the Tesla Model 3 in China.

The 2025 Seal marks BYD's first electric sedan built on the updated e-Platform 3.0 Evo. This platform made its debut in May with the Sea Lion 07, a mid-sized electric crossover considered a potential rival to the Tesla Model Y. BYD has enhanced the platform to increase range and motor power while providing faster charging and expanded software for intelligent driving.

The refreshed 2025 Seal EV features a roof-mounted LiDAR system that will unlock new capabilities for ADAS. Additionally, BYD has replaced its signature "Build Your Dreams" emblem on the rear with a red "BYD" logo. This change mirrors the new design of the Model 3, which also sports a revamped "TESLA" badge on the back.

The interior of the Seal EV is similar to that of the Model 3, though there are marked differences. The Chinese electric vehicle offers a driver display screen and significantly more physical buttons and controls compared to the Model 3. It boasts a branded 15.6-inch rotating screen for the infotainment system. Within the Ocean series, the seats are designed with a wave pattern.

With a length of 4800 mm, a width of 1875 mm, and a height of 1460 mm along with a wheelbase of 2920 mm, the new BYD Seal has comparable dimensions to the Model 3 (4720 mm long x 1848 mm wide x 1442 mm high).

The starting price of the 2025 BYD Seal EV is $24,500 for the version with a range of 510 km. In comparison, the Tesla Model 3 in China starts at $32,300, albeit with a greater range. The price difference is about $7,800. The most expensive version of the Seal EV is priced at $33,500, while the Model 3 can go up to $46,800, widening the gap to $13,300.
