On Thursday, Microsoft unveiled a series of game trailers from partner studios during its stream, including the first showcases of long-anticipated projects. Here’s the best of what we saw at the October Xbox Partner Preview.
Alan Wake 2 DLC: The Lake House
The second (and seemingly final) DLC for Alan Wake 2 has received a new trailer. While the first video, revealed at Gamescom, was merely a teaser, the new footage showcases gameplay that confirms that the Federal Bureau of Control agent from the main game, Kieran Estavez, will be a playable character in this DLC.
Subnautica 2
The trailer for the highly anticipated Subnautica 2 showcases vibrant, enchanting coral reefs in shallow waters alongside the monstrous creatures awaiting divers deeper in the ocean. Subnautica 2 will be available in early access in 2025 on Xbox Series X and S as well as PC.
Blindfire
The neon-punk shooter Blindfire from British studio Double Eleven has received an announcement trailer showcasing the game's atmosphere. The game revolves around light control: despite starting a round in darkness, thermal scans, explosions, searchlights, and black lights provide clues about opponents running across a map designed like a laser battle arena. The game is already available in early access on Xbox Series X and S as well as PC.
Cronos: The New Dawn
This announcement trailer focused more on atmosphere than gameplay for Cronos: The New Dawn, a new title from Polish studio Bloober Team. The eerie trailer juxtaposes a chess match between an old woman and someone in a sealed black suit (like a scuba diver in space) with scenes of the latter killing deformed humanoid creatures. The game is set to release in 2025 for Xbox Series X and S, as well as PC.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii
The new trailer for the Yakuza spin-off shows Goro Majima, now the sole protagonist, happily jumping around Hawaii while having no recollection of his past in organized crime. The trailer also reveals naval battles that will be featured in the final version of the game. The release date is now set for February 21, 2025, one week earlier than initially planned, to avoid sharing the launch day with Monster Hunter: Wilds.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
The trailer for the new game from 505 Games showcases a bloody adventure that merges Chinese history with dark fantasy and magical battles. The game is set to launch on Xbox Series X and S, as well as PC in 2025.
Animal Well
The indie hit Animal Well, released for PC and Nintendo Switch back in May, is now available on Xbox Series X and S.
Eternal Strands
The trailer for Eternal Strands showcased a vibrant, lively world filled with ecological and elemental battles. Players will engage in combat with colossal enemies reminiscent of Shadow of the Colossus. The game is set for release in early 2025 for Xbox Series X and S, as well as PC.
Mistfall Hunter
The new trailer for Mistfall Hunter by Bellring Games presented a dark hack-and-slash adventure featuring fast-paced melee, ranged, and magical combat, akin to a third-person Diablo, complete with enormous enemy bosses. Mistfall Hunter will be available in 2025 for Xbox Series X and S, as well as PC.
Wheel World
Want to ride a bike in a cool open-world atmosphere filled with strange secrets? The trailer for the new game Wheel World showcases players riding their customized pro bikes in a style reminiscent of Sable. The game is set to be released in early 2025 for Xbox Series X and S, as well as PC.
Phasmophobia
The chilling multiplayer ghost-hunting game Phasmophobia by Kinetic Games, initially launched in 2020 on PC, will finally be released on Xbox Series X and S — in just a week, on October 29.
The Legend of Baboo
The trailer for The Legend of Baboo revealed a new adventure game set on a bright, magical, yet mysterious island. Players will take on the role of a young boy and his large, fluffy (and importantly, rideable) dog, exploring beaches, mountains, and dark secrets of the island, featuring action-adventure gameplay reminiscent of classic Rare titles. The game is planned for release on Xbox Series X and S, as well as PC in 2025.
FBC: Firebreak
The long-awaited multiplayer game set in the Control universe by Remedy Games has finally been revealed. FBC: Firebreak places players in teams of three agents against the chaos that the Federal Bureau of Control aims to contain. It will be released in 2025 for Xbox Series X and S, as well as PC.
