Starting September 1, 2024, China will impose restrictions on the export of drones and their components. Robert "Madyar" Brovdi, the commander of the 414th separate regiment of strike unmanned aerial systems (SUPBAS), is raising the alarm.
On Facebook, the most well-known "drone operator" of the Ukrainian Armed Forces advises everyone to prepare for a "new challenge." Madyar expects a greater shortage than that experienced with Western ammunition—at least those are added periodically. Robert Brovdi views China's restrictions as an attempt to "corner" Ukraine into unfavorable negotiations with Russia.
“It will be expensive and scarce. And a few dozen new millionaires will emerge, of various 'types'.”
In July, the Chinese government announced the restriction of export of a number of goods related to drones. According to Brovdi, this significant event, which notably impacts the course of the war, has not received enough attention in Ukraine due to a lack of awareness regarding Chinese affairs. He asserts that the restrictions will negatively affect many Ukrainian manufacturers.
“Although the developments are perhaps the best in the world, everything is assembled from imported Chinese components into finished products.”
The commander of SUPBAS provides a list of goods and components that will be restricted, taken from a message from one of the Chinese carriers.

The gravity of these changes is reflected in the tone of Madyar's message, filled with many expletives. He talks about the gradual nature of these changes (due to stockpiling), comparing them to stages of cancer.
