Modders for Baldur's Gate 3 have quickly mastered the official modding toolkit and have already showcased the first user-created maps, including the highly anticipated Avernus.

Following the release of the seventh patch for Baldur's Gate 3, the developers at Larian Studios opened access to the official modding toolkit. Although the studio warned that creating new levels would be impossible, modders swiftly found a way to bypass this restriction. Within just two days, enthusiasts uncovered additional capabilities of the toolkit and began crafting their own maps.

One of the first user-created maps, showcased on Reddit, features a magnificent castle by the sea. The creator shared screenshots and videos of this location, demonstrating how characters can freely navigate through the newly created world.

Another map recreates Avernus — a location long desired by the game's fans. This area is tied to the character Karlach's storyline and has long been a topic of discussion regarding potential DLC. The modder has meticulously captured the essence of the hellish dimension: red-orange landscapes, rivers of blood, and falling ash from the sky.

The gaming community has received these creations with great enthusiasm. Many have expressed admiration for the quality of the maps and hope for the emergence of full-fledged custom campaigns, similar to mods for Skyrim.
