The AMD AM4 processor socket, launched in September 2016, continues to receive new processors. AMD will release three budget-friendly chips as manufacturers update their BIOS.
According to insider @momomo_us, AMD is set to deliver one chip with integrated graphics and two standard processors — the Ryzen 3 5300G, Ryzen 5 5600T, and Ryzen 5 5600XT. These aren't mere rumors; several motherboard manufacturers have already incorporated support for two of these chips into their X570 and B550 motherboards. ASUS has updated its firmware for compatibility with the 5600XT and 5600T, while MSI currently supports only the 5600T.
More models and manufacturers, such as Gigabyte and ASRock, may join soon. Motherboards with 300 and 400 series chipsets have not yet received updates, but these are anticipated, as the boards support the more powerful Ryzen 5800XT and 5900XT models.
The AMD Ryzen 5 5600T features 6 cores and 12 threads, a base frequency of 3.5 GHz, and 32 MB of L3 cache. The Ryzen 5 5600XT will have a frequency of 3.8 GHz, the same amount of L3 cache, and a TDP of 65 watts. No specifications for the Ryzen 3 5300G have been disclosed, but it is expected to be a 4-core processor with Radeon Vega graphics.
The Ryzen 5 5600T has already been tested on Geekbench 6.3.0 with a Gigabyte X570 AORUS PRO motherboard. This indicates that Gigabyte’s X570 boards support the new processors, although the update has not yet been released. In the test, the processor displayed a base frequency of 3.5 GHz and a maximum of 4547 MHz (around 4.6 GHz).
The 5600T scored 2132 points in single-core and 9182 in multi-core benchmarks, which is roughly comparable to the Ryzen 5600X. However, the latter has a higher base frequency of 3.7 GHz. The 5600XT chip will be 100 MHz faster and is expected to be the fastest in the 5600 series for AM4. Pricing and release dates for the processors are not yet known, but they are expected to arrive by the end of 2024.
