Recently, a diverse auction of Apple memorabilia was held, organized by RR Auction. During this event, items were sold for a total of $983,096, ranging from photographs to the original Apple 1 computer.
A rare Polaroid photo of Steve Jobs, personally signed by him, was sold for $12,500. In addition, a Polaroid picture of Tim Cook with his signature and three Polaroid photos of the main board of the first Apple 1 computer were also put up for auction. Together, these photos fetched $54,090.
The auction also featured rare Apple devices. For instance, an original 2007 iPhone in its original packaging sold for over $25,000. Meanwhile, one of the early prototypes of the iPad went for $24,996.
However, the biggest contribution to the auction total (approximately a third of the overall amount) came from the Apple 1 computer that belonged to Dana Redington—then an employee of Apple. Before the sale, the computer underwent a refurbishment process at the hands of Corey Cohen, an expert in the field. Now, with its green monochrome display fully functional, it was likely this restoration that enabled it to sell for $315,914.
Overall, it was an engaging auction that can truly be considered a journey through the history of Apple, reflecting the highs and lows and the side developments that have shaped the company into what it is today.
