The TP-Link Archer BE3600 is a router with Wi-Fi 7 support, 3600 Mbps speeds, and a price tag of $99. But there's a nuance

As of today, routers supporting Wi-Fi 7 are priced in the hundreds of dollars. High-end models can cost up to $800 for individual routers, while Mesh systems may run around $1000. However, the new TP-Link Archer BE3600, also known as the Archer BE230 in some markets, is a game changer by offering support for this high-speed standard at just $99.

As implied by its name, the total theoretical Wi-Fi speed is 3600 Mbps. When operating on the 5 GHz band, the device can deliver speeds of up to 2882 Mbps, while on the 2.4 GHz band, it can reach up to 688 Mbps. The 5 GHz band supports a channel width of up to 240 MHz, although the device typically operates at a width of 160 MHz.

At the same time, the dual-band router does not support the 6 GHz frequency, which explains its lower price point. Nevertheless, this does not prevent the router from supporting new features like Multi-Link Operation (MLO). The device is based on a Broadcom SoC.

The TP-Link Archer BE3600 (Archer BE230) is equipped with a couple of 2.5 Gbps Ethernet ports, a feature previously found only in routers costing about twice as much. Additionally, there are three more ports providing 1 Gbps speeds. There's even a USB 3.0 port, allowing you to connect a drive to the router, turning it into an improvised network disk.
