Evgeny Grigoryevich, head of the GSC Game World studio, and Evgeny Kulik, the technical producer, discussed the features of the upcoming game in an interview with IGN during Gamescom 2024.
They clarified that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will have three endings instead of the previously announced four. To experience all the content, players will need to play through the game multiple times. The developers did not provide information about a "true" ending, leaving that question unanswered.
Later, IGN released a one-and-a-half-minute gameplay trailer for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The video contains new gameplay footage and features a familiar character.
The trailer features a mercenary known as Scar — the main character from "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky." This character may have been embodied by Alexander "Sey" Laptiy, a member of the Azov regiment, who had previously mentioned his involvement in the game's creation.
The trailer showcased several familiar locations: a mill, the radar station "Duga," a kindergarten in Pripyat, and mysterious "brainwashing" screens that players encountered at the end of "Clear Sky."
The GSC Game World team is currently focused on optimizing the game and fixing bugs. The developers expressed confidence that they will release S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on time — November 20. The game will be available on PC (Steam, GOG, EGS), Xbox Series X, S, and will also be accessible via Game Pass.
As a reminder, Chinese journalists recently shared their impressions of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 demo.
