Zynga, a subsidiary of the publisher Take-Two Interactive Software (owner of the Grand Theft Auto franchise), specializing in mobile games, is releasing its first web3 game, which players will be able to access using the cryptocurrency Ethereum (ERC-721).
The game is called Sugartown, it will also give players a chance to earn "in-game cryptocurrency", by the end of the year, it is planned to release 10,000 Oras tokens, reports The Block.
Players will need to use Ethereum to access the game, where they can place bets to "earn energy" and win "in-game currency Oras", through which they can access rewards, the company says.
It sounds unconvincing so far, unless you apply the term "scam". But the release of such a title from a huge publisher (last year Take-Two acquired Zynga for 12.7 billion dollars) could significantly change the video game market and monetization methods.
