Japanese automaker Suzuki has unveiled its first mass-market electric vehicle — the e VITARA. This model is based on the eVX concept showcased in 2023.
The Suzuki e VITARA is built on the HEARTECT-e platform, which has been specifically designed for electric vehicles. The car is a crossover featuring large wheels and an extended wheelbase. Its powertrain integrates an electric motor, inverter, and lithium iron phosphate battery.
The vehicle is offered in multiple configurations with various battery and motor options. The base front-wheel-drive model comes with a 49 kWh battery and a 106 kW motor generating 189 Nm of torque. There is also a front-wheel-drive version available with a 61 kWh battery and a more powerful motor (128 kW, 189 Nm). The all-wheel-drive variant features a 61 kWh battery and, in addition to the 128 kW motor, includes another 48 kW motor on the rear axle. In this setup, the total power output is 135 kW, with a torque of 300 Nm. The range for the base model is expected to be around 400 km, while variants with a larger battery may achieve approximately 500 km.
The dimensions of the Suzuki e VITARA are as follows: a length of 4275 mm, a width of 1800 mm, a height of 1635 mm, and a wheelbase of 2700 mm. Depending on the powertrain configuration, the weight ranges from 1702 to 1899 kg, with a ground clearance of 180 mm.
Production of Suzuki's first electric vehicle is set to begin in spring 2025, with sales anticipated in various countries, including Europe, around summer 2025. Pricing and additional specifications will be announced later. Preliminary estimates suggest that the price will start at $25,000.
