Samsung's top-of-the-range Odyssey OLED G9 monitor was on sale for £199 (discounted to £1400) - ticktocker says he had time to buy one

Over the weekend, Samsung, probably accidentally, priced its ultra-wide 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 gaming monitor at just £199 in the UK. This happened due to a £1400 discount that was indicated on the official Samsung website.

A user on TikTok shared about Samsung's unprecedented generosity. He claims to have timely ordered from Samsung's page on eBay, where a similar deal was also available.

Journalist PC Gamer Jacob Ridley regrets not being able to "get to the screen" in time—when he visited the page, the offer was already marked as sold out. He managed to take a few screenshots before the price increased again.

The Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 is a 49-inch curved ultra-wide monitor with a DQHD resolution of 5120×1440, a response time of 0.03ms, a refresh rate of 240Hz, and an aspect ratio of 32:9. It features Samsung Smart TV with access to the Gaming Hub cloud gaming center.

Such a discount is one way to quickly move inventory, although it's hard to imagine Samsung did this intentionally. Similar mistakes sometimes happen in online stores, and often they honor the deal to save face. The author of this news once purchased a motherboard at half price that way.

If the actual sale did occur, Samsung lost £1400 on each monitor, and someone is surely responsible for it. Yes, on the flip side of luck, there might be someone who suffered.
