A resident of Clermont, Florida, USA, received multiple charges after shooting at a Walmart delivery drone. The Lake County Sheriff's Office received a complaint about the incident last Wednesday. According to a source from USA Today, a bullet hole was found in the cargo being transported by the drone.

Witnesses pointed to 72-year-old Dennis Vinn as the perpetrator. The suspect spoke to officials and admitted to firing once at the drone from a 9mm pistol. In the recording of a police body camera, Vinn says he tried to push the drone away, but it didn't move, so he shot at it:

"I took one shot at it. They say I hit it, so I must be a good shot... I'll have to find a really good lawyer," Dennis says.

Vinn was taken into custody and charged with shooting at an aircraft, causing damage of over $1000, and using a firearm in a public or residential area.

Walmart first announced drone deliveries in 2021. The following year, the retail chain introduced drones in select regions of Texas, Arizona, and Florida. Initially, Walmart partnered with DroneUp, which was already involved in drone deliveries. In January of this year, Walmart announced an expansion and added other contractors. Over the past two years, the supermarket chain has completed 20,000 safe deliveries and plans to further expand the service.
