The ESRB rating agency has released new information about the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, assigning it an "M" rating (17+). The agency's official website now features a detailed description of the game, highlighting interesting aspects of its content.

The plot of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 centers around the main character named Skif, who investigates mysteries in the Chernobyl exclusion zone. Players will explore an open world, undertake quests, and engage in battles with enemies—both human and mutant.

Developers have included a wide range of weaponry, including machine guns, rifles, and explosives. The ESRB mentions realistic blood effects from hits, which can appear on walls and near bodies in certain scenes.

The agency also highlights more sensitive content in the game. In particular, it describes anomalies that may cause body explosions, scattering flesh fragments. One scene depicts severed heads on spikes. Players will have the option to kill civilians, although this may trigger immediate retaliation from other characters.

Furthermore, the ESRB notes the presence of alcohol consumption in the game, which affects gameplay by inducing screen blurring and character staggering. There is also a scene where the main character smokes a cigarette from a first-person perspective. The game contains profanity, including the word "f**k."
