The entry-level smartphone in the series, the Google Pixel 9a, will not only enhance its appearance but also improve its specifications. It will feature a decent display, camera, and a large battery.
The new Google smartphone in the "A" series will grow in size and boast a more appealing design. Leaks suggest that the Pixel 9a will have a 6.3″ Actua display — the same size as the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. It will support an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 60 Hz to 120 Hz.
The Pixel 9a is expected to be powered by the Tensor G4 processor, paired with 8 GB of RAM and storage options of 128 or 256 GB. The smartphone will also feature a 5000 mAh battery — roughly 11% larger than that of the Pixel 8a, but this should be considered alongside the larger display. Charging speeds will remain unchanged at 18 W for wired and 7.5 W for wireless charging.
The Google Pixel 9a will have a 48 MP main camera and a 13 MP ultra-wide camera, with a 13 MP front-facing camera as well. Its dimensions will be 154.7 x 73.3 x 8.9 mm, and it will weigh 186 g. Despite the increased size, the smartphone is lighter than the Pixel 8a (188 g).
Unofficial information indicates that the Pixel 9a's launch is scheduled for mid-March 2025. This is several months earlier than usual for Google, and it does not seem that the company will unveil any devices at the upcoming Google I/O. The Google Pixel 9a is expected to retail for $499.
