Their impression of the game is that it has a captivating atmosphere, despite some minor technical flaws.

Recently, at a gaming exhibition in China, GSC Game World showcased a new demo of the much-anticipated S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. Journalists from IGN China had the unique opportunity to try the game for two hours and shared their insights.

The game begins with the protagonist and an NPC entering the Zone of Alienation. There, he calibrates a detector to search for anomalies but is ambushed by unknown armed individuals.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 retains the signature visual style of the series, recreating the eerie atmosphere of a nuclear disaster zone. The developers have maintained the characteristic filters and color palette from previous installments, which evoke a sense of coldness, gloom, and danger in the environment. Particular attention has been paid to the detail of the surroundings and objects that populate the gaming world. Every element, from half-destroyed buildings to rusty remnants of machinery, has been meticulously crafted to capture the essence of a desolate post-apocalyptic world with a distinct Eastern European flair.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 inherits the key gameplay elements of the original game that made the series iconic. Players will once again encounter supernatural phenomena, mutants, and treacherous anomalies. The resource management system remains complex and realistic, demanding careful planning and inventory management from players.

Interaction with various factions and the impact of decisions on the storyline will play significant roles. The game offers a branching dialogue system and variability in quest completion, which will affect the narrative progression and possible endings.

Classic series elements, such as throwing bolts to detect anomalies, are still present. Early in the game, players faced mysterious occurrences, including spherical lightning, invisible creatures with telekinetic abilities, and enigmatic caves with inexplicable fires.

The combat system balances realism and dynamism. The AI of opponents demonstrates tactical behavior, utilizing cover and attempting to surround the player.

Despite the generally positive impression, IGN China journalists noted a few technical shortcomings in the current version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. The most significant issue was the unclear system for marking interactive objects. Players often encountered difficulties when trying to interact with environmental items and doors. This was particularly true during resource gathering—sometimes it was hard to determine which items could be picked up. A similar situation arose during looting enemy bodies. Additionally, working with the world map proved to be inconvenient; players had to zoom in excessively to display important markers, complicating route planning over longer distances.

However, GSC Game World developers assured that they will address all the feedback and rectify the identified issues before the game's official release.

Reminder: "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl" is set to be released on November 20, 2024, for PC, Xbox Series X, and Series S.
