Hyundai has prepared an updated version of the Ioniq 5 electric vehicle for the 2025 model year. The refresh includes a larger battery and a new XRT trim designed for off-road journeys. Additionally, in the United States, Hyundai has integrated the Tesla North American Charging Standard (NACS), providing Ioniq 5 owners convenient access to the extensive Tesla Supercharger network.

The entry-level updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 now features a 63 kWh battery compared to the previous 58 kWh option. Meanwhile, in the Long-range version, the battery capacity has increased from 77.4 kWh to 84 kWh. All these changes are expected to enhance the driving range, although the company has not disclosed the updated figures. There are also no specifics provided about the motor power in the base version. The dual-motor configuration delivers a total output of 320 hp and 605 Nm of torque.

In 2025, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 will include the XRT variant, aimed at drivers who enjoy venturing into the wild. This version offers a ground clearance that has been raised by 22.9 mm, a specially tuned suspension, and 18-inch wheels with off-road tires, enhancing the vehicle's capabilities on rough terrain. Unique bumpers featuring a 'digital camouflage' pattern, increased approach and departure angles, and a pair of tow hooks capable of pulling a trailer weighing up to 2646 kg complete the package. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT is available exclusively in an all-wheel drive configuration with dual motors and a larger battery.

A key feature of the 2025 Ioniq 5 is the NACS charging port, which provides access to Tesla's network of over 17,000 Supercharger stations across the United States. Hyundai will also supply a CCS adapter with each vehicle, ensuring compatibility with existing charging infrastructure.

Other notable updates for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 include a refreshed exterior style with new bumpers, a spoiler, and aerodynamically designed wheels. The interior has been enhanced with a revamped climate control layout, USB-C ports, physical controls for seat heating, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 will go on sale later this year. Initial batches will feature the older CCS port. By the fourth quarter of 2024, all new Hyundai electric vehicles will be equipped with the NACS port. The price for the updated model has yet to be announced.
