The exclusive VR game for Meta Quest 3, Batman: Arkham Shadow, has received a gameplay trailer at Gamescom 2024. The game is being developed by Camouflaj and Oculus Studios in collaboration with Warner Bros and DC.
The video showcases familiar combat mechanics for fans of the Arkham universe, adapted for virtual reality. There are hand strikes, sliding, grappling, lethal stealth attacks, as well as the iconic detective vision from Batman— all shown from a first-person perspective for VR headsets.
Batman: Arkham Shadow serves as a prequel to the renowned Arkham Asylum from 2009. The story unfolds between Arkham Origins from 2013 and Arkham Asylum. Expect to see characters like Harley Quinn, Jim Gordon, Harvey Dent, Doctor Crane, and others.
Roger Craig Smith reprises his role as Batman. This version of Batman is younger than the one seen in the main Arkham trilogy but more experienced than the relatively inexperienced character in Arkham Origins. This Batman is engaged in a battle against the Ratcatcher, a new dangerous criminal, and cult followers. Batman: Arkham Shadow is set to be released in October of this year.
