Epic Games is not done litigating against Apple. The 2021 decision forced Apple to allow app developers from the App Store to reference external payment systems, and now Epic has filed a motion to the judge to enforce this decision.

Epic argues that Apple's updated policy for developers, which still charges a 27% commission on external payments (or 12% for small developers), is still unjustified. Epic claims that these fees are "essentially the same" as those the company charges for using its payment system, reports The Verge.

Christian Owens, founder of the payment system Paddle, and Benjamin Simon, founder of the fitness app Down Dog for iOS, have agreed with this in statements also submitted by Epic. Owens called Apple's proposed choice "illusory," and Simon stated that his company Yoga Buddhi Co. will still be forced to charge a higher fee for subscriptions on the iOS version than on the web version.

Epic also claims that Apple requires developers to use a specific "style of simple button" that, according to Epic, "is not actually a button" and violates Apple's injunction prohibiting developers from indicating to customers alternative payment "buttons, external links, or other calls to action."
