Rakuten Viber conducted a survey among Ukrainian users to determine their use of artificial intelligence in work and education. Participants also shared their thoughts on whether AI could replace their jobs. Over 20,000 users took part in the survey, with the key age group being 34-45 years old, and more than 50% of respondents were under 45.
The survey results revealed that 24% of participants turn to AI for assistance. Consequently, 76% of Ukrainians do not utilize AI tools in their work or studies. Additionally, 19% of respondents occasionally use artificial intelligence for information gathering or content creation, while the remaining 5% use AI on a regular basis. Almost half of those surveyed are completely unaware of what artificial intelligence is.
Regarding the question “Have you started using AI in your work and studies?” the responses were as follows:
- I don’t know what that is — 47%;
- I don’t use it, I manage better on my own — 27%;
- I sometimes use it for information searching or content creation — 19%;
- Yes, I use it constantly — 5%;
- I don’t use it because my workplace/education has strict policies regarding AI — 2%.
The team also explored whether artificial intelligence could replace users’ jobs. More than half (51%) of Ukrainians believe that AI does not threaten their employment. Another 31% of respondents think there is a possibility, but they are uncertain about how and when it might occur. Meanwhile, 18% of those surveyed answered that artificial intelligence could potentially replace their jobs.
The responses to the question “Do you think AI could replace your profession?” were distributed as follows:
- No, it won’t affect me — 51%;
- Perhaps it will replace it, but it’s currently unknown how and when — 31%;
- It could, but in the distant future — 11%;
- It could replace me, which is why I’m learning to acquire skills that AI cannot replicate — 7%.
