Arrowhead has finally revealed Joel, a Helldivers 2 game master with "psychic" powers (oh, and his name is an acronym)

After six months of mysteries, Arrowhead has finally unveiled their game designer in a 90-second video.

In the footage, a studio employee enters a room marked "J.O.E.L.", disregarding warning signs on the doors. The camera captures Joel watching a mission in Helldivers 2, controlling a robot to attack players, and interacting with the community on Discord. The highlight occurs when Joel showcases his psychic abilities, pushing the camera away with an invisible force after the operator accidentally reveals his presence.

We've previously mentioned that in Helldivers 2, Joel serves as the "game master" (similar to Dungeons and Dragons), overseeing the galactic war. He can influence the course of any battle in various ways, such as sending in Automaton reinforcements at a critical moment.

Helldivers 2 is a game about space troopers (elite Hell Divers) battling against alien cockroaches (Terminoid bugs) and bloodthirsty Automaton robots. It was released on February 8 for both PC and PS5. On the night of February 21, the project reached an impressive peak of 457,600 concurrent players, placing it among the top 20 games in Steam's history for this metric.
