Apple's smart glasses will be akin to Meta's Ray-Ban, while the next AirPods will be equipped with cameras.
According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple is still preparing new devices but will not launch them until 2027 at the earliest.
In the case of the glasses, Apple aims to justify its multimillion-dollar investments in the Vision Pro visual intelligence R&D by integrating the technology into additional products (which was also showcased during the iPhone 16 camera demonstration). The potential Apple device is not a full-fledged AR headset but rather smart glasses featuring integrated cameras, speakers, and microphones, similar to Meta's Ray-Bans priced at $299 and up.
As for the headset itself, many users find it too heavy for prolonged use, overpriced (with a price tag of $3500), and prone to overheating, contributing to its niche status. Reports indicate that interest in the headset has declined since its launch, with sales not meeting Apple's expectations. Gurman also noted in his report plans for upcoming iterations of Vision Pro: a more affordable version priced around $2000 may debut next year, and a second-generation headset with an updated processor is planned for 2026.
Apple is also contemplating the creation of AirPods with camerasādevelopment known by the codename B798. The headphones will likely retain the same size as the current version but will incorporate low-resolution cameras and utilize artificial intelligence to assist users in their daily tasks.
