Apple has expanded the camera settings on the iPhone with iOS 18, allowing users to play music while recording videos.
In previous versions, audio, music, or podcasts would automatically pause when the camera was activated. However, in iOS 18, the system will present a message offering the choice to either pause or continue playback while in video mode.
Previously, iPhone users could bypass these limitations using the QuickTake feature introduced in iOS 13, but this method resulted in lower-quality recordings.
“Audio will no longer pause automatically during video recording,” notes Apple in the description of the new feature. “When playing audio through the iPhone speaker, the sound will be recorded in mono.”
iOS 18 is expected to be released this fall with a number of new features, including the ability to customize the home screen and finally arrange app icons freely, remove ads from the browser, locate previously lost photos, send RCS messages, and create a folder for hidden apps. Options for Apple Intelligence utilizing artificial intelligence are likely to be released a bit later.
