User 4chan shared resources related to Cyberpunk 2077 that come from the CD Projekt hack in 2021. The files may indicate cut content or canceled DLC, events of which take place on the Moon.
The initial post describes the images as related to a canceled DLC. The lunar expansion was supposed to depict a new corporate war, but off Earth. The author compares its scale to The Witcher 3's "Blood and Wine" expansion. This interpretation, as well as the origin of the images, should be taken critically, considering the scale of the content that includes a new map separate from the main one, making the assumption not so far-fetched.
The map layout indicates that the Moon area was supposed to be six square kilometers, or roughly a quarter of the size of the base game's map. The location was meant to include areas like "NC Base," "HR Settlement," and the "Narcology Laboratory." File names contain words like moon, cosmodrome, bomb_crater, and the like. The leak also includes files of various zones and buildings. There are also two images of early versions of Dogtown with Phantom Liberty.
Lunar colonies and corporate intrigues play a significant role in the world of Cyberpunk. Characters from the anime "Cyberpunk: Edge Runners" and the expansions strive to escape there, with the game's origin involving the murder of members of the European Space Agency, etc. The space theme has been discussed in speculations about potential DLC or a sequel to Cyberpunk.
However, at the end of last year, CD Projekt Red director Igor Sarzhinsky stated that the team never considered creating DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 after the main game's release, so the lunar location is most likely its cut content.
