League of Legends players found to be the smartest among gamers - study

A recent survey involving over 1,000 gamers revealed that League of LegendsLeague of Legends (LoL) is a multiplayer online game in the MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) genre, developed by Riot Games. The game was released in 2009 and has since become one of the most popular esports disciplines worldwide. players possess the highest intelligence levels among video game fans.

The company WhichBingo conducted a study in collaboration with a team of psychologists. Participants took an intelligence quotient (IQ) test specifically designed to rank gamers' cognitive abilities.

According to the findings, the average IQ of League of Legends players is 120.4 points. Following closely are fans of Black Myth: Wukong with an IQ score of 119.8. Rounding out the top three are Baldur's Gate 3 enthusiasts with an IQ of 117.9. The top five also includes players from Counter-Strike and Elden Ring.

Players from various other games filled the middle of the ranking. Specifically, Battlefield 2042 fans have an average IQ of 105.8, Escape from Tarkov players an IQ of 104.2, Deadlock players an IQ of 108.7, and Genshin Impact fans an IQ of 106.8.

The lowest IQ scores were found among players of FC 24 and Rocket League, with scores around 90. Fans of Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 came in 18th place with an average IQ of 95.3.

Researchers noted a trend: the more complex the game, the higher the average IQ of its players. Games with intricate competitive mechanics and convoluted metagame require greater mental effort to master and enjoy.
