Volkswagen has updated the Caddy van by launching a hybrid version with a significant electric range. The new Caddy eHybrid and Caddy Cargo eHybrid are plug-in hybrids.

In addition to the 1.5-liter TSI engine producing 85 kW (115 hp), the Caddy eHybrid includes an electric motor. The combined system delivers a total output of 110 kW (150 hp) and provides up to 350 Nm of torque. Its 19.7 kWh battery retains enough energy to enable the vehicle to travel up to 122 km solely on electric power.

By tapping on the display, users can choose when they want to utilize the electric range. In combined mode, the drive consumes between 18.3-19.4 kWh of electricity and 0.4-0.5 liters of fuel per 100 km. When operating solely on the internal combustion engine, the vehicle consumes 6.1-6.6 liters of gasoline per 100 km.

The battery can be charged at home using wall outlets with DC charging units of up to 50 kW or AC wall boxes rated at 11 kW.

The plug-in hybrid is equipped with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The passenger version of the Caddy eHybrid accommodates 5 people and reaches a maximum speed of 183 km/h. The cargo variant, Caddy Cargo eHybrid, has 2 seats and can go up to 181 km/h. Additionally, a Maxi version with an extended wheelbase is available, capable of seating up to 7 people as a passenger van.

In the future, all Caddy models will come standard with a dynamic road sign display system, cruise control, parking assist, and enhanced driver attention and drowsiness monitoring systems. Cargo versions will include additional features such as extra side and curtain airbags, a multifunctional camera, a tire pressure loss indicator, Lane Assist, and Front Assist with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring. Another new standard feature for the Caddy Cargo is a multifunction steering wheel, which is already available in passenger versions.

The price for the Volkswagen Caddy Cargo eHybrid starts at €36,985, while the Maxi version begins at €39,055. The price for the passenger model Volkswagen Caddy eHybrid starts at €37,450 (€40,670 for the Maxi version).
