Today, Qualcomm officially unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, built using a 3nm manufacturing process. This flagship chip for smartphones was previously referred to as Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

The processor consists of Oryon cores, operating at a maximum frequency of 4.32 GHz (two Prime cores) and 3.53 GHz (six smaller Performance cores). It features 24 MB of L2 cache, with 12 MB allocated for each type of core.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite is equipped with the Adreno 830 GPU, which delivers a 40% performance increase compared to the graphics of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and accelerates ray tracing by 35%. It consists of three GPU segments, each clocked at 1.1 GHz. The Adreno 830 supports all modern graphics APIs, including Unreal Engine, Nanite, and Chaos Engine.

The processor also supports dual-channel LPDDR5X-5300 RAM and features the new Snapdragon X80 modem with Wi-Fi 7 support. Additionally, the chip includes an NPU that is 45% faster than its predecessor.

It is expected that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite will be featured in smartphones like the Realme GT7 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S25, and Xiaomi 15 (which is anticipated to be the first to launch).
