On the evening of September 23, the official OpenAI account on the social network X (formerly Twitter) was compromised. The hackers aimed to post a cryptocurrency message featuring the ticker $OPENAI on the ChatGPT developers' page. They urged followers to buy this fraudulent coin in OpenAI's name. As a result, anyone who clicked on the link was redirected to a phishing site with the URL "token-openai.com," which required them to connect their crypto wallet. This likely led to the theft of sensitive information.
OpenAI has not commented on the incident, but the fraudulent posts have already been removed. The number of affected users remains unknown.
Anonymous sources reported that prior to the account hack, OpenAI employees received an internal memo from a security team member warning them about the increasing number of attacks targeting employee accounts.
This is not the first instance of hacking attacks on OpenAI's social media and its team. In June 2023, the account of OpenAI's CTO Mira Murati was hacked with the intent of distributing a fake token.

If you see any suspicious links, do not click on them, report them immediately, do not connect wallets, and of course, do not grant permissions!
