Nvidia is changing the game.
GeForce NOW is Nvidia's cloud service that enables users to play modern video games even on less powerful computers. Instead of installing games on their own devices, users stream them from the company's powerful servers, accessing their libraries on Steam, Epic Games, and other platforms.
Starting next year, users of the service will be limited to 100 hours of gameplay each month, regardless of their chosen subscription plan, Nvidia reports on its blog. Currently, subscribers to the Performance and Ultimate plans pay $9.99 and $19.99 per month, respectively.
Performance plan users will now be able to play in 1440p resolution and utilize ultrawide monitors—features that were previously only available to Ultimate subscribers.
Those on the Ultimate plan will receive an eagerly awaited feature: the ability to save graphic settings between gaming sessions. This plan continues to support 4K resolution at 120 frames per second.
However, Nvidia assures that not everyone needs to worry—this limit fully meets the needs of 94% of gamers. For dedicated players, there's a sweet bonus: up to 15 unused hours can roll over to the next month of an active subscription.
What if 100 hours isn't enough? Users will need to spend extra: Performance plan holders can purchase 15 additional hours for $2.99, while Ultimate users can get this package for $5.99.
“The new limit will help maintain high streaming quality and minimal waiting times in queues for all Performance and Ultimate users,” the developers explain in their blog.
There’s good news for current users: if they join the service by December 31, 2024, and keep their subscription active, they will enjoy unlimited gameplay time throughout 2025.
