The developer Claymore Game Studios has unveiled a demo version of the new tactical game Commandos: Origins. The series has enjoyed immense popularity, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release.

Publisher Kalypso Media showcased the Commandos: Origins trailer at the end of August, promising the game would be out later this year. It can be said that the game is nearly here, with a demo now available for PC and Xbox. This classic real-time stealth strategy is set during World War II.

The Commandos series debuted in 1998 when Pyro Studios released the classic Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines. Since then, there have been sequels, two additional games, and remasters. The series concluded with the 2006 release of Commandos: Strike Force.

Commandos: Origins brings the series back to its roots by creating a World War II prequel. Players will control a team of six special forces operatives who carry out sabotage missions, traveling from the European coast to the icy Arctic and the deserts of Africa. The gameplay is presented in a classic isometric perspective but rendered in full 3D.

The demo of Commandos: Origins is available on Steam, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. This is not a direct part of the upcoming game. Rather, the publisher refers to it as an "exclusive test mission for the demo." In this, players take control of a squad led by Jack O'Hara ("Green Beret") and James Blackwood (Marine) as they attempt to sabotage a German radar system "on the Norman Islands during World War II."

The full game will feature "more than 10" missions with primary and secondary objectives, each of which can be completed in various ways. The game will support two-player local and online co-op. Commandos: Origins currently does not have a release date, but the developers have confirmed it will launch this year. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (via Steam and the Microsoft Store).
