The lawsuit alleges that OpenAI allegedly abandoned its initial mission to develop artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity, instead focusing on profit.

Lawyers representing Musk note that OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, and co-founder Greg Brockman initially approached the billionaire with a proposal to create a non-profit open-source project - instead, the collaboration with Microsoft, which has invested billions in the developer ChatGPT, "is focused on making money." The AI startup is also accused of keeping the design of the most advanced language model GPT-4 "secret."

Musk was a co-founder of OpenAI in 2015, but left the board of directors after 3 years: officially - due to a conflict of interest with Tesla, and reportedly - due to a refusal to be appointed CEO.

Last year, OpenAI underwent a revolution that removed Altman from his position - board members stated that they were trying to protect the company's mission to develop artificial intelligence that benefits humanity. After several days of discussions and Microsoft's intervention, Sam eventually returned to the company.

ChatGPT - an AI chatbot from OpenAI became the fastest-growing app within the first 6 months since its launch in November 2022. It also spurred competitive developments from Meta, Google, and others (including Musk himself).

The chatbot is now used for a wide range of tasks - from writing texts and summarizing documents to creating computer code.
