Meizu has unveiled an unusual smartphone, the Lucky 08, featuring a peculiar camera module, solid specs, and an AI assistant with a striking activation button—all priced between $230 and $300.

The Meizu Lucky 08 is equipped with a 6.78-inch 8T LTPO AMOLED display that offers FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. The screen boasts a peak brightness of 1600 nits and can achieve a local peak brightness of 5000 nits. A special outdoor mode adjusts brightness for better visibility in sunlight.

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, the smartphone comes with options for 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 256/512 GB of storage. Meizu describes its unusual camera block as the Star Track camera system, which comprises a 108 MP main camera (ISOCELL HM6), a 2 MP macro lens, and an LED flash. A robust 6000 mAh battery that supports charging speeds of up to 33 W ensures long battery life.

The device runs on Meizu’s Flyme AI operating system. The AI assistant offers a variety of features, including automatic call responses, summarizing conversations, aiding shoppers in finding the best market prices, and more. This intelligent assistant can handle search queries, analyze documents, and transcribe and summarize voice recordings.

The power button on the Meizu Lucky 08 also enables quick AI access. The smartphone includes the Flyme Link feature for interacting with electric vehicles from Polestar, Lynk & Co, and Lotus, which are part of the Geely group.

Meizu Lucky 08 will be available in Star White and Meteorite Black colors. The pricing is incredibly competitive: $230 for the 8/256 GB model and $300 for the 12/512 GB version. It remains unclear whether the smartphone will be available on the international market, as this would require adaptations for the AI features.
