Apple will soon begin production of the 13-inch and 15-inch versions of the MacBook Air equipped with the new M4 chip. Their launch is set for early 2025, as reported by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.
Currently, Apple is focusing on integrating the M4 chip across its entire Mac lineup, with the first Mac computers featuring the M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max processors expected to be unveiled next week. Apple plans to release new models of the Mac mini, MacBook Pro, and iMac.
The updated MacBook Air models are anticipated to arrive in the first few months of 2025, between January and March. No design changes are expected for the new MacBook Air models; the emphasis will be on the M4 chip and the increased performance it will deliver.
Following the MacBook Air, Apple intends to refresh the Mac Studio. Gurman claims that the update for Mac Studio was initially slated to coincide with the MacBook Air, but its release has now been postponed to a later timeframe—from March to June. In previous articles, he mentioned that the Mac Studio would debut in mid-2025, so it remains unclear what has changed.
The Mac Pro featuring the M4 chip is also under development, but it is unlikely to be released before 2025.
Around the same time as the launch of the MacBook Air models in early 2025, Apple will also refresh the iPhone SE, iPad Air, budget iPad, and introduce a new keyboard designed for the iPad Air. Additionally, a new home hub with a small square screen will debut in 2025.
