A modular mini-PC featuring a potential battery and discrete graphics is impressive in itself. Khadas is also including Intel Core Ultra 200V Lunar Lake processors.

The company Khadas produces modular mini-PCs that allow users to expand storage, add components, or even incorporate discrete graphics through separate modules. The graphical Mind Graphics is now equipped with the mobile GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. Early reports suggest that the upcoming base model of this PC will be the first device based on Lunar Lake with discrete graphics.

Khadas Maker Kit

On Geekbench, results for the Khadas Maker Kit can be found, which includes a base module with Core Ultra 5 and Ultra 7 processors along with Mind Dock. The latter adds nine input/output interfaces, a built-in SD card slot, and integrated speakers, enhancing the functionality of the base module.

The company has already launched two similar systems: one with Raptor Lake and another with Meteor Lake. It seems that the next-generation series will incorporate Lunar Lake processors. Both chips, Core Ultra 5 228V and Core Ultra 7 268V, have 8 cores but differ in clock speed and integrated graphics.

The processors feature 4 performance cores (Lion Cove) and 4 energy-efficient cores (Skymont). The 268V can boost its frequency up to 5.0 GHz, while the 228V can reach only 4.5 GHz. The former features Arc 140V graphics with 8 Xe2 cores, whereas the 228V will come with Arc 130V featuring 7 Xe2 cores. However, the discrete graphics in the Khadas Graphics module seem particularly appealing. Additionally, the next-generation Khadas system will support 32 GB of LPDDR5X-8533 memory.

Khadas plans to showcase its new Mind products at IFA 2024, which will take place from September 6 to 10 in Berlin. From a technological perspective, the Khadas Mind systems are quite intriguing, offering the possibility of battery use in the main unit and powerful discrete graphics. However, they come at a high cost: the processor module is priced at $799, and the graphics module at $999. This may make the choice between these products and an equivalent laptop more appealing.
