Yuri Haidai, a senior economist at the Center for Economic Strategy, reported that Ukrainian IT specialists may face restrictions on the use of a simplified taxation system. This idea emerged during a working group discussion concerning a tax bill. The aim was to consider the protection of the "Diia City" regime against IT professionals transitioning to the third group of individual entrepreneurs (FOP).
It is proposed to prohibit IT specialists using the simplified taxation system from providing services that fall within the scope of "Diia City".
“…let's simply ban those on the simplified tax system from engaging in all activities available in Diia City,” Haidai writes about the essence of the proposal.
In other words, all IT services will become unavailable to individual entrepreneurs and the simplified taxation system if the relevant proposals are approved in the Verkhovna Rada (the Ukrainian parliament).
According to Haidai, this initiative unexpectedly gained support during discussions.
The "Diia City" representatives commented on this idea, stating that they do not support the mentioned proposal. Additionally, Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak believes that the idea of abolishing the simplified taxation system for individual entrepreneurs has no chance of further support.
It is worth noting that the tax bill proposes an increase in the military levy to 5% for hired employees, as well as a 1% military levy for the third group of individual entrepreneurs and an increase in taxes for the first and second groups of individual entrepreneurs. IT associations opposed this bill as it undermines 25-year guarantees regarding taxation conditions for residents of "Diia City".
