The Ukrainian esports team Monte was unable to leave the country to participate in the tournament. This was stated in a message on the team's official Instagram account.

"Unfortunately, despite all our efforts, we were unable to cross the border of Ukraine. We did everything we could to play in the tournament.

We hope that next time we will be able to represent Ukraine on the international stage," the team's message said.

The Monte team planned to participate in the CS2 tournament - IEM Chengdu. It will take place in China from April 8 to 14. The prize pool of the competition is $250,000. Due to their withdrawal from the competition, the Chinese team Steel Helmet took their place.

This situation was sarcastically commented on by commentator Vitaliy Volochay. Here is his comment with minor censorship corrections:

"Actually, the fact that Monte were not allowed to leave the country is right!

Why the hell should they go to these incomprehensible tournaments by ESL and raise their rating and some achievements??? What's the benefit in that???

Real benefit should be brought.

Like for example Chairman of the Cyber Sport Federation of Ukraine Ivan Danyshevsky, who brings benefits in New York, Poland, Italy, and other countries.

Like Denis Davydov, (coach) Chairman of the Commission of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine on esports. Like Eduard Anokhin, the operational director of the esports federation. They have no problems with going abroad.

And that's right," wrote Vitaliy Volochay.
