In the first seven months of 2024, Ukraine imported 228,319 vehicles. This represents a 14.2% increase compared to the same period in 2023, when 199,980 cars were brought in. This information is provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It is noted that the majority (71%) of the vehicles imported this year are used. Currently, the average age of the imported used vehicles is 9 years. At the same time, 42% of the pre-owned cars that entered Ukraine are aged 10 years or older.
Most of the new vehicles were registered in Kyiv, accounting for 13.7%. The top three regions also include Lviv (10.2%) and Odesa (7.4%).
Among Ukrainians, the most in-demand brands are:
- VOLKSWAGEN — 11.2%
- RENAULT — 7.7%
- AUDI — 5.8%.
At the same time, the most popular imported model was the SKODA OCTAVIA, with 5,047 units sold. Following closely were the VOLKSWAGEN GOLF and VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT, with 4,965 and 4,147 cars respectively.
Cars with gasoline engines continue to be the most popular among Ukrainians. Almost every second vehicle imported this year was equipped with a gasoline internal combustion engine. Diesel engines were fitted in 27.5% of the cars brought in this year. Despite a 1.8-fold increase in electric vehicle imports compared to the previous year, they only make up 13.1% of the total number of newly imported vehicles.
