BYD has released an electric coupe YANGWANG U9 with 1300 hp and air suspension that allows "dancing". Price - from $233 thousand.

Yangwang, a brand owned by BYD, has announced the U9 electric supercar in Shanghai, the second mass-produced car of the new brand after the U8 SUV. The U9 will be a 2-seater model with a starting price of 1.68 million yuan ($233,500), Chevpost reports.

The model is a battery electric vehicle (BEV) with four electric motors, each delivering peak power of 240 kW, and a total peak power of 960 kW. The Yangwang U9 has a length of 4,966 mm, width of 2,029 mm, and height of 1,295 mm with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm.

Together, the motors provide up to 1306 horsepower and 1680 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.36 seconds. The electric vehicle's system is based on an 800 V high-voltage platform and is powered by Prismatic Batteries with an 80 kWh capacity and a combined range of 450 km on the CLTC cycle.

Like models from another premium brand, BYD Denza, the Yangwang U9 supports simultaneous charging with two charging guns and can charge from 30% to 80% in 10 minutes.

The Yangwang U9 is equipped with DiSus-X suspension. During the launch, BYD demonstrated the ability of the Yangwang U9 to dance, jump, and even drive on three wheels. The DiSus-X system is capable of outputting up to 36 kW of power to turn on the spot, with the suspension having a maximum adjustable travel of 75 mm.

It's somewhat reminiscent of lowriders competitions in the USA, but it's more of a reference to another Chinese manufacturer - NIO, which recently demonstrated how such dances can be useful for snow clearing (although, that one must be very dry).

The Yangwang U9 features the DiPilot autonomous driving system, Inside, it has the DiLink information and entertainment system from BYD, as well as a 5G chip, manufactured using a 4nm process jointly developed by BYD and Qualcomm.
