The Swiss company Micro presented the serial version of its ultra-compact two-seater electric car Microlino Lite at the Geneva Motor Show. This car is designed for city travel, crowded and narrow streets.
The small car is perfect for city trips to work, quick trips to the market, taking a child to school, and transporting a pet. The small size allows for 3 Microlino Lite cars to be parked in one SUV parking space. Thanks to its characteristics, in some countries, such cars can even be driven by teenagers aged 14 and older - it is enough to have a license to drive a moped. The microcar is equipped with a roof hatch and a 230-liter trunk.
Microlino Lite has a steel monocoque construction. The car measures 2.5 meters in length, 1.47 meters in width, and 1.5 meters in height. The weight is less than 600 kg. With an engine power of 6 kW (peak power of 9 kW), the electric car is classified as a type L6e vehicle, meaning that anyone with a class AM moped license can drive it in Europe. The car has a maximum speed of 45 km/h.
In the base version, Microlino Lite is equipped with a 5.5 kWh battery, which provides approximately 100 km of range. Also available is an 11 kWh battery, which increases the range to 177 km. The 5.5 kWh battery can be charged from 0 to 80% in about 2 hours from a 2.2 kW Type 2 charger, while the larger battery requires about 4 hours to charge.
The Microlino Lite electric car will be available for rent. The base model can be rented for 149 Swiss francs per month (about €156 or $169) for a 48-month rental with a mileage of 5000 km per year. This is roughly twice as much as some people pay for a subscription to an electric bike from Swapfiets. The car will be available in Europe this summer.
