HUAWEI has officially unveiled the Mate XT Ultimate Design as the world's first triple-screen smartphone currently in production.
The HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate Design features a 6.4-inch screen with FHD+ resolution (2232×1008) when folded. Upon opening one hinge (effectively, halfway), the screen's diagonal expands to 7.9 inches with a resolution of 2K (2232×2048). Finally, when fully opened, the smartphone transforms into a 10.2-inch tablet boasting a 3K display (2232×3184). This model employs an LTPO OLED panel with a high-frequency PWM dimming of 1440 Hz and a maximum touch polling rate of 240 Hz.
The display is crafted from flexible materials that bend in various directions. Its resistance to bending has been increased by 25% compared to traditional foldable screens. The internal fold resists compression, while the external fold resists stretching. The HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate Design features a composite ultra-strong laminated structure utilizing non-Newtonian liquid and the largest UTG glass in the industry, providing robust protection. When fully open, the device has a thickness of just 3.6 mm.
As of now, the specific processor powering this dual-folding smartphone has not been disclosed. It is speculated to be the Kirin 9000 model. The device comes with 16 GB of RAM, and the internal storage capacity may be 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB. The battery capacity is rated at 5600 mAh. This model features the world's thinnest carbon-silicon battery at just 1.9 mm thick. It supports fast wired charging at 66 W and wireless charging at 50 W. The new device weighs 298 g.
The HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate Design is equipped with a triple main camera setup. It includes a primary 50-megapixel 1/1.56-inch sensor with OIS and a variable aperture lens ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0, an ultra-wide 12-megapixel module, and a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto module with 5.5x optical zoom and OIS. Additionally, there is an 8-megapixel internal camera.
The price of the HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate Design starts at $2808 for the base version with 16+256 GB of memory, while the top-tier configuration with 1 TB of storage is priced at $3370. Sales in China will commence on September 20.
HUAWEI also introduced a foldable touch keyboard that can be paired with the Mate XT, allowing for a desktop PC-like experience.
