In September, the clicker game (tapper) Hamster Kombat made quite a stir: 300 million players who had diligently completed tasks and tapped their smartphone screens daily for six months were looking forward to making some extra money. However, when the listing happened, the major hype transformed into total disappointment. Almost half of the players did not receive any HMSTR tokens at all: only 43% of gamers were eligible for the airdrop. The 47% who managed to obtain HMSTR were left frustrated by the token's low price. The game was already labeled the worst among tapers at that point.
But that's not all. Since September, the price of the HMSTR token has plummeted by 76%.
According to Protos, the number of active users in Hamster Kombat has catastrophically dropped to 41 million over five months, representing an 86% decline (259 million).
The shadow of Hamster Kombat has fallen over other tapers. Player disappointment and listing difficulties, in general, have led to a significant decline in interest in this genre of games. Some experts believe that in its current form, tapers may cease to exist.
