Google has released updated images of Ukraine's territory on its Google Maps service. These images publicly display the locations of the military systems of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. This was reported by Andriy Kovalensko, the head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation (CCD) under the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).
“Imagine this scenario. Google uploads updated images showing the positions of our military systems (I won't specify further).
The disclosure of this blunder by the tech giant had an immediate effect. Representatives from the company promptly contacted Ukrainian authorities and began working on rectifying the situation. Andriy Kovalensko also shared this information. Approximately an hour and a half elapsed between the first and second messages.
“After the public response, Google representatives reached out, stating that they are already working on correcting the situation regarding the images of our military systems,” ─ wrote the head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation.
He added that in the future, discussions will be held on how to address any issues promptly.
