"Dune: the events of MMO Dune Awakening take place in a world where Paul Atreides was never born - trailer

Survival MMO Dune Awakening turned out to be a game set in an alternative history of the "Dune" world. In this story, Paul Atreides was not born, and all subsequent events were radically different.

So, Paul's mother, Jessica, decides to comply with the demands of the Bene Gesserit and give birth to a daughter. This completely changes the events on Arrakis, leading to the "war of assassins," which determines the conflict between the Harkonnens and the Atreides on this timeline, as well as the political conflict that shapes the finale of Dune Awakening. Doctor Yueh was exposed, Duke Leto and House Atreides survived. Jessica's daughter, Ariste Atreides, can be encountered in the game.

“It's very moving and with relief to finally share details of the alternative chronology in Dune Awakening. It is the stone that begins to shift and it opens up many truly wonderful opportunities for players to explore as they arrive on Arrakis,” says the game's creative director Joel Bylos.

This news was announced alongside the release of the trailer at Summer Game Fest 2024. The trailer also announces that the Dune Awakening Direct broadcast will take place on June 20th. In a tweet, the developers announce that the broadcast will include "discussion of our latest story cinematic trailer, as well as new information about the game."
