Free mod editor for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which CDPR announced at the end of last year, is approaching release - a page appeared on Steam for The Witcher 3 REDkit (that's the name of the tool) and sign-ups for a two-week Playtest have begun, which will take place from April 16 to 30.

Release of The Witcher 3 REDkit editor and details of The Witcher 3 REDkit beta test

The public release of the editor is expected to take place in 2024 (exact date not specified). The developers based it on their internal toolset, which they used during the game's development. The editor has been enhanced and optimized. According to the developers, players will have "full freedom of action," so they can not only change available missions, but also create new tasks or other content.

The editor will only be available on PC and having a copy of the game installed on the user's PC is a mandatory condition for the tool to work correctly. During the beta test, access to the editor will be provided gradually, in several waves. You can apply directly on The Witcher 3 REDkit page on Steam by clicking the Request access button and wait for notification.

Do I need to remind you that along with privileged early access to the editor, testers bear a responsible task - to provide feedback. Developers immediately warn about all the risks - bugs, unstable operation, and other inconveniences, which the open testing is actually intended to identify. Support will accept bug reports through an online form at this link.

At the same time, CDPR developers announced the implementation of Steam Workshop support for The Witcher 3 - those interested can join the beta test by joining The Witcher mod community at this link.

Within a month CDPR (by May 17) will stop supporting "The Witcher 3" on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 - the game will continue to work, but will no longer receive official patches. Meanwhile, "The Witcher 4" / The Witcher 4 has entered the pre-production stage - with the game's full development starting in the second half of the year, over 60% (400 employees) of the entire CD Projekt team is already working on it.
