The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation, and Customs Policy, Daniil Getmantsev (from the "Servant of the People" party), announced that a separate bill regarding the taxation of international packages valued at up to 150 euros will soon be presented to parliament.
“The exemption for packages valued at 150 euros should be abolished. We are currently finalizing the relevant bill, and we will submit it without delay; we will definitely implement it, despite a certain segment of the population that may be unhappy,” Getmantsev stated.
According to the head of the tax committee, the removal of the tax exemption for packages is being called for by retail chains and domestic producers.
“There will be a law, and I will personally ask for its support,” the deputy added.
Earlier, the government submitted bill No. 11416 to the Verkhovna Rada to increase taxes. This bill stipulated that all shipments from legal entities (foreign online stores, marketplaces, etc.) would be subject to tax, regardless of their value. However, the deputies failed the initial vote on the revised bill No. 11416-d.
In the version of the bill for the repeated first reading, that provision was removed. Nevertheless, Getmantsev remains determined to strip Ukrainians of tax exemptions. He promised that lawmakers would prepare a separate bill to eliminate the exemptions on package taxation.
It is worth noting that "Nova Poshta" believes that abolishing the tax exemptions on international packages valued at up to 150 euros will not benefit the budget, as the costs for customs clearance would exceed the revenue from inexpensive packages.
