Ubisoft has released a new video for the game Assassin's Creed Shadows, revealing the gameplay features of its two main characters — Naoe and Yasuke.
The developers showcased the distinct play styles of each character and the situations where one may have an advantage over the other.
Naoe and Yasuke have different attributes in terms of speed and health. Naoe focuses on stealth, while Yasuke prefers close combat. These differences influence how the heroes navigate obstacles and interact with their environment.
Naoe is characterized by her incredible agility and grace. She can perform complex acrobatic moves, such as executing a backflip and landing on a pile of hay. Her skills provide her with an advantage in situations requiring high ground or against enemies attacking from a distance.
In contrast to Naoe, Yasuke falls from heights "like a stone" and lands on his back. However, he excels in close combat and possesses greater health reserves. Yasuke is better suited for engaging powerful foes in one-on-one battles.
Choosing a character affects not only gameplay but also the story's progression. In certain instances, Naoe may prioritize attacking a target, while Yasuke may lean towards showing mercy. The developers note that players will be able to complete any mission with either character, although specific situations are more fitting for one hero over the other.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is a third-person action RPG that transports players to 16th-century Japan, during the Azuchi-Momoyama period. The game allows players to control two characters: the shinobi Naoe and the samurai Yasuke, each with their own unique arsenal and combat style. The developers have introduced several innovations, including the ability to crawl in a prone position and a dynamic seasonal change system. The game world covers central Japan, including Kyoto, Kobe, Osaka, and the Iga province, with the plot unfolding against historical events like Oda Nobunaga’s victory over the Takeda clan and his attack on Iga province.
As a reminder, the developers recently noted that there will be a relationship between Naoe and Yasuke in Assassin's Creed Shadows.
