Apple has unveiled two new models of AirPods 4 and the highly anticipated update to AirPods Max during the event titled “It's Glowtime.”
AirPods 4: A New Generation of Wireless Earbuds
Apple introduced two variations of AirPods 4, which incorporate design elements and features from earlier models. The standard version of AirPods 4 features shorter stems and improved sound quality, while still maintaining an open design without replaceable tips. The premium variant of AirPods 4 has, for the first time in this lineup, introduced active noise cancellation (ANC), a feature previously available only in the Pro models.
Both models of AirPods 4 now come with a USB-C charging case, reflecting Apple's overall transition away from the Lightning port. The premium version's case also includes a built-in speaker, making it easier to locate the earbuds through Apple's Find My network.
The new AirPods 4 are powered by the H2 chip, which provides several enhancements:
- Faster connections
- More efficient battery usage
- Support for Bluetooth 5.3
- Improved sound quality with personalized spatial audio
- Seamless switching between devices
- More reliable connections and quicker responses when switching between Apple devices
The design of AirPods 4 has been refined to ensure a more comfortable fit for different ear shapes. The new design combines elements from AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro, featuring shorter stems and better ergonomics.
The pricing for the new AirPods 4 models starts at $129 for the standard version and $179 for the model with active noise cancellation.
AirPods Max: The Long-Awaited Update
Nearly four years after the launch of the first version, Apple has finally introduced a new pair of AirPods Max. The main change in this update is the replacement of the Lightning connector with USB-C for physical connections and charging.
The design of the earbuds remains nearly identical to the original version, retaining the aluminum and steel construction. However, Apple has introduced a new color palette for the AirPods Max, expanding personalization options for users.
The updated AirPods Max will be available for purchase starting September 20, priced at $549.
