Apple is set to launch a desktop robot with a large screen as early as 2026.
This information was reported by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.
The new device will feature a sizable screen akin to an iPad, mounted on a slender robotic arm. This design will enable users to tilt the display both up and down and rotate it a full 360 degrees. Such a configuration will provide maximum flexibility in using the device.
Apple's developers are marketing this device as a "multi-functional smart home control hub." It will function as a video phone for FaceTime calls and a home security monitoring system. The gadget will operate using Apple's voice assistant Siri and Apple Intelligence's AI technologies.
The project is being led by Kevin Lynch, Apple's Vice President of Technology. Previously, he oversaw the development of the Apple Watch and managed the now-defunct self-driving car project.
Apple aims to bring the device to market in 2026 or 2027. The company hopes to price it around $1000 to make it accessible to a wide range of consumers. However, these plans may change based on the development progress and market conditions.
