On April 27, many Apple device users noticed that their Apple ID accounts had been reset, and the system did not allow them to reauthorize. Users were asked to reset their password, some of them reported that they needed to enter their iPhone password to reconnect to iCloud. Those who had enabled stolen device protection said they had to wait an hour before they could log in.
Apple did not comment on this incident and did not mention it in official statements. However, one Mastodon user reported that Apple support had told them that "random security enhancements are sometimes added to your account." On Reddit, users wrote that Apple support had informed them of changes to their password. Some say they also had to reset passwords for third-party apps that have access to their Apple ID, while others were only prompted to reset their password.
Mac developer Michael Tsai wrote about the solution to the Apple ID problem. He had to wait an hour to reset settings due to Stolen Device Protection, a new Apple security feature that protects iCloud accounts of iPhone owners in case their phones are stolen.
The author of this news received an email from Apple on Friday about a registration on this e-mail for an Apple ID account, the message invited to enter the provided code. This is very strange, considering that I do not use any Apple technology or company services.
