Apple has introduced iPadOS 18 during WWDC 2024. The update will be available in the fall, with a beta version for developers available from today and a public beta next month.
The update finally adds a built-in calculator to Apple tablets — 14 years after the launch of the iPad. Users no longer need to download third-party apps even for simple mathematical operations.
The calculator is similar to the one in iOS, but additionally supports the Apple Pencil — calculations can be simply written with the stylus. The program will solve them thanks to a feature that Apple calls Math Notes.
Apple introduced the Smart Script program, which improves the appearance of text when writing with machine learning. The program is able to reproduce the user's handwriting, check spelling, and write the typed text in the desired handwriting style.
Like in iOS 18, there are new ways to personalize the home screen and a personalized Control Center. It also adds a customizable pop-up tab for easier app navigation.
