Recently Apple announced a new iPad Air tablet with the M2 chip. On the company's website in the technical specifications section, it was noted that this model has a chip with 8 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores. However, now the resource 9to5mac has discovered that the company has reduced the number of GPU cores from 10 to 9.

The "updated" configuration of the iPad Air processor is now featured on the Apple website and indicates "9-core GPU." Interestingly, on some regional websites, in particular, the Ukrainian one, there is still mention of a 10-core graphics processor. It seems that the company has not yet had time to update all its regional sites, continuing to confuse users.

It is still unknown what prompted Apple to revise the number of available GPU cores. Perhaps this is related to a change in performance level, which now does not match the 10-core chip configuration. Or there may be issues with producing chips with functional 10 cores, so one of them has to be limited. Apple has been asked to comment on these changes, but has not done so yet.

It should be noted that the M2 processor is also used in the previous iPad Pro tablet, which contains 10 GPU cores. Perhaps this is Apple's way of distancing devices by performance level, limiting the number of cores available. However, such changes in specifications may fall under false advertising.
